EXPLORER II  :

Digital Technology

Simple - Powerful -Fast

From the world leader in metal sensing technology, the NEW Explorer II from Minelab company, Australia raises the standard for metal detecting. This switch-on-and-go detector finds valuable coins, rings, jewellery and relic targets that others walk right over.

Introducing the amazing Smartfind which compiles a precise fingerprint of a target using not one but two characteristics.

Never has discrimination and Target ID been so accurate.

After two years of intensive research and development Minelab is proud to announce the release of it's new and innovative detector:
THE EXPLORER II
Operating on a totally new system called Full Band Spectrum (FBS), this new technology transmits up to 28 frequencies simultaneously, ranging from 1.5kHz to 100kHz, improving both depth and accuracy of discrimination.

Welcome to the world of Smartfind - the Explorer range takes the old principles of how discrimination works and replaces them with a remarkable new technology called Smartfind.

For the first time ever, here is a detector with 2-D identification, which means that targets are now identified by not only conductivity but also ferrous content.

Features include:

  • Create your own discrimination pattern just for your needs

  • Revolutionary presentation of target characteristics

  • Superior depth

  • Large easy to read display

  • Tone identification of targets

  • Target depth indicator

  • High-powered microprocessor

  • Simple push-button menu control

  • Easy to use 'Quickstart' programme

  • Full function 'Advanced' programme

  • Lightweight, ergonomic comfort

  • Easy access drop-in battery case

  • Concealed cable (no more winding!)

  • Overload signal on large targets

  • Signal 'blanking' on discriminated targets

  • Back-light and display contrast control

  • Plus much more!

Using his new Minelab Explorer Metal Detector, Jim found a rare 1901-S Barber Quarter. After finding the coin five inches below the surface, Jim remarked "the parks I hunt in I had stopped hunting at least 5 years ago thinking they were 'cleaned out'. WOW, what a surprise to find out they were not!! The quarter I found, I must have been over it at least a hundred times with different machines over the years, yet the 'EX' rang out like it was a new quarter on top of the ground!" Jim has since sold his rare find to the highest bidder for $5400!

My son Paul and I decided to try our luck at the "Lost Villages" rally weekend in West Sussex. Paul had a good signal from quite a depth with his Explorer. His first silver Roman coin came from about 12 inches down. Over the next hour Paul and I dug probably another dozen or so silver Roman coins from depths up to 15 inches. There were 89 coins in all, most of which appeared to be from the reign of Hadrian around 120AD. The watching crowd of a hundred or so were overawed at the depth the Explorer II was finding coins.

Tony Hunt - Hoard found with new Explorer XS

The Explorer has surpassed my expectations with its ability to detect deeper and operate in high trash areas. Every trip holds more surprises and good finds. The Explorer has made coinshooting fun and exciting again and I find myself more addicted to metal detecting now, than ever before. I can't believe all these finds are from 'hunted out' parks, I am looking forward to years of detecting these sites
